PCOS is a common gynecologic disorder characterized by obesity, hirsuitism, oligomenorrhea, and infertility. The condition is related to endocrine imbalances in the hypothalamus-pituitary=adrenal axis, ovarion and thyroid dysfunction and insulin resistance. The pharmacologic treatment of this disease will be reviewed including both prescriptive medications as well as common botanical preparations. A case review of women seen in my office presenting for treatment for PCOS during the previous three years will be represented highlighting the positive and negative outcomes.
