Traumatic events happen to all people at all ages and across all socio-economic strata in our society. These events cause terror, intense fear, horror, helplessness, and physical stress reactions. The impact of these events does not simply go away when they are over. Instead, traumatic events are profound experiences that change the way children, adolescents and adults see themselves and their world. In a trauma-informed approach, all people at all levels of an organization need to have a basic awareness about trauma and understand how trauma can affect families, groups, organizations, and communities as well as individuals. In this workshop, participants will develop awareness about the prevalence of trauma, the impact of
trauma to functioning, and how learning TIP principles can improve the journey for clients and staff.
