In West Africa traditional village herbalism is practiced in two forms. One is much like how herbalism is practiced elsewhere, with herbs prescribed based on the symptoms presented by the patient; the other is a spiritual form that is guided by diagnoses provided by psychic specialists. Both forms play important roles in the health of villagers, and in this class we will explore the benefits and differences of each.
