Probiotics are emerging as a potentially useful adjunctive tool in the management of genitourinary tract infections in women such as bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candiaisis. Concomitant use of probiotics with standard drug therapy may improve treatment outcomes and reduce risk of recurrence. This evidence-based overview will also revisit the use of probiotics in women to prevent not only antibiotic associated diarrhea but also potential longer term complications. Finally, the presentation will also look at concomitant use of probiotics in the management of gastrointestinal
tract infections such as Helicobacter pylori.
