Menopause is a condition partially driven by oxidative stress. Biomarkers of oxidative stress are higher post menopause, and correlate with symptoms and risk of certain pathologies. We will review biomarkers such as F2Isoprostane, 8OHdG, and oxLDL as they relate to menopause. Studies also show that there is more oxidative stress in women who have more symptoms of menopause. Therapies that reduce oxidative stress may blunt symptoms and prevent conditions associated with menopause. We will also review current research around a 2:16 ratio, 4OH and interventions such as DIM and sulforaphane.
