Metabolic syndrome is an increasingly common problem affecting approximately 40 to 50 million men and women in the United States. As the incidence of this problem continues to grow, it is important to understand the unique cardiovascular challenges faced by women within the context of
metabolic syndrome and the role of post-menopausal estrogen deficiency and PCOS. In this regard, dietary as well as nutraceutical and phytotherapeutic research-based treatment strategies will be discussed that addresses these latter concerns.
