This symposium addresses factors that should be considered when making vine spacing decisions and the influence of those decisions on wine quality. Several topics will be discussed including vine spacing effects on root development and water utilization, how spacing can affect fruit chacteristics and how soil factors can influence spacing decisions. Cost analyses for different spacing configurations will also be presented, including considerations of capital outlay, per acre farming costs and grape prices and bottle prices for wine.
