Class for All Levels (3.0 hrs): This course describes the meaning and uses of herbal alteratives as the most important yet most misunderstood category of western herbal medicine. They are important because they have such a wide range of application for so many conditions and diseases. They are misunderstood because the term lacks precise definition allowing almost any herb to be deemed an alterative depending on the author or circumstances. This course attempts to offer a sharper definition of this important herbal category by looking at how the same or similar herbs are categorized in the older traditional systems of Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal medicine.
