Based on valued research for industry, the Honorary Research Lecture will be presented this year by Dr. Michael McCarthy, Senior Scientist at the

South Australian Research and Development Institute in Nuriootpa. Dr. McCarthy?s wide-ranging research interests include grapevine nutrition,rootstock performance, canopy management, soil management, deficit irrigation and partial rootzone drying. With a continuing interest in

vine improvement and vineyard irrigation management, he currently supervises post-graduate and graduate scientists involved in irrigation

research projects throughout Australia. He has published in scientific journals all over the world and is a familiar figure to Australian grape

growers and wine industry personnel as a result of his frequent presentations at industry conferences, seminars, symposia and field days. His

Honorary Research Lecture at the annual meeting this June is not only an occasion for the ASEV to recognize him for his efforts and accomplishments

but also an opportunity for all in attendance to benefit from his nearly 30 years of viticultural expertise.
