The home environment can play a significant role in maintaining health and wellness. Children with allergies and asthma can be greatly benefited by parents and families learning about potential problems in the home and ways to remedy them. Potential hazards include mold, dust, lead and toxic chemicals. We will work with the HEAL (home environmental assessment list) to learn to assess problems and provide solutions to these problems. This presentation will cover the following:

ú Indoor pollution and its impact on community and pediatric health

ú Types of indoor pollution

ú Ways to identify indoor pollution

ú Strategies to reduce indoor pollution

ú Master home environmentalist program, HEAL (home environmental assessment list)
