An engaging ramble through topical applications for trauma and injury intended to acquaint participants with a variety of topically applied remedies easily made in the home. Remedies useful in reducing inflammation, relieving pain and tension, reducing swelling, relaxing muscles, improving circulation and soothing the body to promote healing will be addressed. These remedies are useful in treating sprains, strains, spasms, acute and chronic tension and are equally useful in preventive strategies to enhance health. A fun, messy and simple approach to relieving distress when life throws a curve ball! Materia medica, water and oil infusions, decoctions, poultices, baths, fomentations and compresses will be explored from many perspectives. Participants will need to bring a tub for a hand or foot bath. Wear your play clothes! A $10.00 supply fee allows for generous use of local herbs and supplies like bandaging, poultice cloths, tinctures, bottles, etc. and gives participants tangible access to remedies we use in class and some to take home as they cultivate a deepening relationship with herbs in their daily lives.
