(Advanced) Is St. John's wort really effective? Does it interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills and antivirals? Does ginkgo really potentiate the effects of anticoagulants? There is a tremendous amount of clinical and research information on herbal medicine. However, it is important for herbalists to be critical of the quality and accuracy of information being disseminated and to be able to assess the strength of the evidence of the findings presented. This session will provide insights and guidelines for assessing the validity (or not) and clinical relevance (or not) of herbal information including: levels of confidence in the accuracy of herbal texts and herbal medicine research.
