What do fractals, complexity theory and energetic models of medicine have in common? In the field of medicine only one pathway to knowledge is currently accepted as a legitimate source of understanding and gathering data--the sciences. However, currently, as well as in the remote past, many cultures utilize a hot and cold classification for people, food, medicinal plants, pathological conditions, and environments. These energetic models of medicine, empowered people by comparing disease states and environmental affect with the characteristics of common phenomena. We will discuss the possibility that the next major breakthrough in Western medician sciences will be "back to the future"; the recognition of the effect of energy on biological systems.
