Conventional treatment of malignant melanoma consists of a wide-margin surgical excision. "Black salve," consisting of a variety of botanical substances, has been used successfully in the treatment of melanoma and other external and internal cancers.
Though herbal formulas for black salve vary, all effective forms of black salve have cytotoxic, escharotic properties. This presentation will focus on:
1) Diagnosis and treatment of malignant melanoma and variants.
2) Mechanisms of black salve therapy.
3) Treatment of melanoma with black salve: indications, cautions, correct application, follow-up treatment, adjuvant therapy, medico-legal implications.
4) Sources of black salve and comparison of effectiveness, including variations of "recipes" to try at home.
Why Black Salve may be preferable to the knife in treatment of malignant melanoma:
1) Black salve selectively destroys malignant tissue while leaving normal tissue intact. There is less overall tissue destruction.
2) Black salve "identifies" and removes all cancerous tissue including the "roots" of melanoma, unlike surgical excision where cancerous tissue margins may be missed.
